Well I read in some magazine to watch out for pieces of bricks while detecting in fields, before today it had never payed off once even. But today was different! In the near center of some pieces of bricks I had this really nice smooth signal. Dug for a bit and found a crusty coated large cent :hello2: ! Bet it hasn't seen the light of day for a long time. Hope I can see a date later. It is soaking right now. Will post some picture of other items found nearby the largie later on. Happy Hunts and thanks for looking!

Thanks for the comments 8). Found this kind of different looking chain near the largie about ten feet away. Could it be period or is it modern?

Soaked in lemon juice?
After water soaking the coin, i used good quality olive oil and my fingers.

After finding the largie, on rescanning the hole there was more signal. Pulled some torn-up brass from the hole. I did find half of a ladies compact, it was as big around as my palm almost, a few feet further up the soybean fields row, this leads me to think the shredded brass might have been the other half? Just speculating that it is possible the coin might have been inside a ladies compact originally, till it got hit by the farmers harrow? My Mom recalls having seen large cents in circulation at the age of ten. This would have been around 1939.
