Lone Jack,Missouri civil war relic hunting

Hello All!
as the title reads, I would like to know if anyone is familiar with the local area, and where
someone would look for relics (legally) from what I’ve been reading, history says the town
was completely destroyed, after that kind of destruction, I’d bet you could find stuff all over town.
I know they have a museum there, and the battle site is a “State War Cemetery” so I know
that area is “Off Limits”
Growing up in the 70’s, I always noticed a stack of Iron balls, in my Aunt’s basement, I never
asked what they were, but my cousin’s tell me they are “Civil war Cannon balls” I’m pretty sure
these came from the line jack area. Kinda hoping to find some folks familiar to the area that can point me in the direction of places to search, or folks to seek permission from to search their property.
