I don’t have high hopes but doesn’t hurt to ask. Found in se Kansas, all other finds from that spot appear to be archaic. Looks beveled and bifurcated... my current best guess is a fox valley with the barbs broken off. But feels like a stretch and the area is a bit off. Maybe somebody sees something I’m not

For the first couple of pictures I couldn't see much of anything going on from a lithic reduction strategy. The last couple of pictures do look like something. I'd lean towards some type of knapping debris or used up expedient tool vs remains of a point. But for what it's worth, if you want to look at types...

Fox Valley, along with most bifurcated points in that cluster, tend to be thinner/flatter than what you have there. Rice Lobed points are from closer to your area and can be stockier, maybe look at those?

Yeah i was thinking the same things from the pics, it doesn’t look like much. I’m confident it’s a piece of something, I collect all flakes I come across and have recently been making my own points out of bottle glass, I’m developing a good feel for flake vs tool but I don’t want this thread to devolve into that so that’s the last I’ll say about it.

Rice cluster was also a thought, it was the roundness of one of the ears that threw me. The whole piece is a bit lopsided and not high quality

Thanks for the info I thought maybe I had another flop looking for an Id

Maybe someday I’ll find something that will pin down what culture was occupying that spot

Update: I was going off my own books, looking into rice lobed online I actually really like it, it fits with some of the other dates. I may go with that if there are no other takers... wasn’t crazy about fox valley Id anyway
