I'm new to the forum, but have been interested in treasure hunting all of my life (Im 16). However, the main reason for this post is to ask about the most collectible gold coin minted in 1912 (My great-grandmother died and left me $500 to spend and I didnt want to waste it on something useless and seeing as she was born in 1912 I knew I wanted something from then) This is going to be at the very least a posible investment for the future as well, but hopefully a fmaily heirloom that will be passed down from generation to generation. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also anyone know of a coin dealer in Central PA? Thanks.

Welcome youngin

You could watch EBay, But you will need to be carefull who you buy from. Being 16 I'm sure your parents will help you there.

Central Pa Covers a large area. Knowing the County may help.

Im from schuylkill, and i have already looked at eBay mainly for price ranges and different coints, but im not willing to spoil this money on a hoax (no matter how good their rating is). Im also going to pick up a copy of the red-book and continue to check from there, but I would prefer to buy a graded (pcgs, anacs etc...) directly from a valid, honest dealer. Thanks a bunch and I look forward to replies.
Thanks again.

are you Familiar with Redners (Not sure on Spelling)
on 61 in Orwigsburg.

There is usually a dealer in the main section.

I believe there is still a dealer at the Gratz Farmers Market & Auction
at least there was last year. I Havn't been there lately.

There is also Muller's in Hamburg (Berks County)
610-562-7687

I don't know on Hometown Market, but it is also Possable.

The Dealer should be there by 10 AM

The shop is near the Center of the Main section.

Very Small But I'm sure he has more then what he brings with
and can probably help you out.

By the way, BMHS would be a great place to detect if you can get permission.

As should the Grove down by the red Church

Do you think it would be more worthwhile to go to the place in hamburg to trade in my silver? Yea I was around 10 i guess when they drained it the first time and i had a $30 radio shack detector so i found cans, but only the ones i could see with my eyes ;)..I wish i would have known better back then haha...Did you ever find anything good in there?

Muller is definately better.
His prices depend on Silver prices that day.

Randall can be contrary & say "I'm not buying right now"
or "I'll call you"

Muller is always Buying.

I got a Couple Diamond rings, alot of Class rings,
Slot machines, Cone top Beer cans from the 30's,
Coins from the early 1700's up, Etc, Etc. out of Sweet arrow.

I have a Museum in my Garage, from my 40 years of detecting finds,
and over half are from those 2 years of Sweet arrow

Was my best site Ever, sort of like the Iceberg Posts
in the Best of TreasureNet Section.

But even their Blowing me away ;D

I don't know if it was the Owner or Manager,
I stopped in at Bergers with a Friend who was applying for a Job.
The Guy in the office saw my WHITES hat I was wearing that day,
and said he is into detecting. that was about 4 years ago.

If it wasn't for Dennis, I wouldn,t Know half of what I do about
Computers.
