My hunting partner a I have been looking for a class ring. This guy tells us that he bury it in this area around a 20 ft square area We have search a area over 4 times this size and have dug over 200 targets. We have spent over 8 hours each detecting this area and so far no ring. I do not think he knows where he bury it at. He says he did this over 50 yrs ago because he was mad at his sister. He said he bury it around 4 or 6 inches down. Do you think it could have sunk out of out target range. Would like feed back on sure we keep on checking or just give up..... thanks Matt

someone could have already dug it many moons ago. He could have told a buddy or friend that long ago and they got it. Or he just don't remember where he left it.

It might be too deep by now... Is scraping the surface with a bobcat out of the question?

looking at the detectors you own. No it should not be out of range.
keep trying.

I'm guessing you are digging everything foil Range & up ?

Does he have a class ring Similar to hers you can tune to ?

If the area is now Clean, maybe Widen the area in case he is slightly off

Is the ring gold or silver? Grab the PI. Maybe he just wants you to waste your time. Yeah, people do that.:BangHead:

The landowner don't want us to expand any then what we have done already. We are digging every signal that we do believe is a good signal.
the yard has lots of nails and we have taken a lot of those out also. We have used big coils and even a 4 inch coil He says that he has never told anyone where he bury it. I just think that it has been so long ago he can not remember where he bury it.....Thanks guy....Matt

unless I'm misunderstanding....

Mistake #1

Rings don't necessarily give "Good Signals"
especially gold ones.

Signals change when rings are Laying Flat, Standing up, Laying on an Angle,
Size, Karat

I agree with Jeff of Pa. You should be digging all signals especially if there are nails and other iron trash at the site, you have probably passed over it, if it is there at all, fifty years is a long time to be remembering where you were.
