Looking for an inexpensive but good CAMERA to take close ups of coins.
I admire some of the close-up photos you guys are able to take with your cameras.
Im using an old sony cybershot and the pics don't turn out that great, especially the close-ups.
Was wondering if you guys could give some advice on what cameras you use.
Im looking to buy a camera for coin photos etc, and would like to spend $100-200 tops.
Please advise.

Nice to see someone else interested in coin photography. Not sure of which would be a good model. I have a Nikon D5200 but I mainly use that for landscape photos. I can take some pretty nice photos with a cell phone camera, a Samsung Galaxy.

Scanner is a good idea, but soooo bulky.
Nikon D5200 looks nice but $500 + = Ouch... I have a cheap cell phone.. Everytime I get a nice phone I destroy it, and then have to pay the high insurance deductible to get a new one. After paying the deductible a couple times, I opted for an old school Samsung flip phone.
The Olympus looks nice, $300 is a lil more than I was wanting to spend. Microscope mode sounds neat.
Saw the Celestron 5 MP Handheld Digital Microscope on amazon that you linked, it looked neat but had some negative reviews. But heck its only 83.95 with free shipping. Anyone ever use the Celestron 5 MP Handheld Digital Microscope?

I'm no camera expert, but my Olympus Stylus Tough 3000 has been a great one, especially up real close, and it's water and shock resistant. Don't know if they still make it, but I found one new-in-box on ebay when I thought I had lost mine. Don't use it much anymore since getting a Note 4 to replace the old flip phone.

I took these pictures with a Canon Power Shot ELPH 150 IS. The pictures turned out great and I am not a photographer by any means. This thing sorta adjusts itself and it was less than 200 bucks. Seems like it was 150 or so, I have forgotten...d2 002.JPG 003.JPG

I picked up a used Fujifilm E550 off ebay for $25 shipped. 6.3 mp, 3 micro (zoom) settings...very happy with it. Con: Uses xD card instead of sD but you can get them on ebay as well.

I have at times used a small magnifying glass in front of the camera lens. Works OK if you can get the light right.

Cannon Powershot SX510 HS.. In your budget price range, compact and easy to use and has a good Macro, which is what you require for coin shots.

I have a Nikon AW120. Its waterproof and takes great pics of anything, but its not as desirable to me as a nice DSLR with a sweet macro lens would be. Someday.

Nope. I looked into it but never pulled the trigger. I thought the iPhone 5 had it but I guess not??

Here's a few taken with the Olympus Stylus Tough 3000. I believe it was originally about 150, the NIB off ebay was under 100. It has a macro and a super-macro. You can get as close as an inch with the super macro setting.
