Looking for civil war camp ;-)

Looking for this Civil war camp in my area that existed in 1861. All I can find are these flat buttons. Was getting disappointed until I looked up the makers marks. OK, guess I'm a little slow, just wanted to find a mini ball. Any idea on what that spoon top looking thing is?

Nice finds. The spoon top looking item is just that. It also looks like you found the securing device for a shoulder scale. You may have found part of the camp. Maybe it was a real early war camp or an assembly area and muskets were not issued which may account for the lack of bullets. Keep working the area hard. Congrats on some nice finds.

I would say you might have found it?That flower button you found is very nice!Not uncommon to have been worn on confederate coats as well as the flat buttons.Whatever kind of site you found looks like a good one.Gl-HH

Thank you danimal03 and all. I had no idea on that shoulder scale attachment piece. The spoon thing is iron inside. Yes, it was a volunteer camp for the 105th infantry. Over 100 men left there in September 1861.
