Looking for first silver coin and found another first!

I went out this morning looking for my first silver coin and found my first gold item instead. This chain came out and at first I thought it was sterling silver because of the color but I saw 14k on it. It was tarnished and I cleaned it a little, but does anyone know how to clean it better? Also, I met a guy who is going to let me detect his yard and his house was built in 1919. I got laid off last Thursday so today has been a better day for me. I'm happy with my find.

Nice find but think it is not gold or gold plated. Gold does not tarnish in my experience. Ht the sand volleyball pits for more gold!
