I have Monday through Wednesday of this week off. I would have done a road trip, but because I have the kids (they get bored) I just did a few simple stops when out and about in addition to my standard weekly stops.

Picked up a bit of coin....
$1 Canadian dollar coin
$274 in loose half dollars (coin machine bag)
2 - $1000 bags of dimes
2 - $500 bags of dimes
2 - $200 bags of nickels
4 - $100 bags of nickels
18 - $50 bags of pennies

Should keep me busy for this week.....132,549 coins to search.... :P

The pickups were from only 4 banks.

Here is what I completed so far

The Canadian dollar is a 1989.

The $274 in half dollars (edge search only so I could dump quick)

Grats on the finds so far!

But dang... that is a TON of coins to search. The number of penny bags CERTAINLY jumped out at me. I'm shocked that 4 banks would even have that much in pennies.

CRAZY

Nice find with the dimes. Uncle Author’s been working on my hands. I need to make a roll holding device so I can sort the small stuff. Any Ideas?

Nice work on the addition silver dimes and the tough canadian date.

And billy... the bags of pennies can be found at banks with coin cointing machines. To get 18 bags of them from only 4 banks, they either came from HEAVILY trafficked banks, or banks that for some reason don't ship bags out as often as the banks I go to.

All these banks ship out weekly. Only one of the banks had a higher than usual count of penny bags (7 bags) when usually they only have 2 or 3 bags. Hoping the 7 bags are not someones dump as they only had pennies and quarters.... which was odd.

And yes one bank does a high volume of coins as they allow anyone to use their coin machine without a fee (with or without an account) and all the other banks in that town I have heard charge a fee even if you have an account. I would go to this bank every week, but it is out of my way so I only go occasionally.

Nice work!

With this load of pennies and beyond... what can you give me as an average number of wheats per bag?

I am quite curious.

For 2008 through just over 880,000 pennies my average per $50 has been about 19 wheats. Now take away my one great bag (531 wheats) and the average drops to around 16 wheats/$50.

Busy TWO weeks you mean? =)

Anywho, nice work on the recent penny bags. And nice job nabbing the 1909 wheat. Always nice to add another first year coin to the collection.
