Loss of depth with higher discrimination

I am getting ready to try out my new AT Pro and I've got what I believe to be an unsearched field that I want to try it in. I have hunted this field with my spectrum XLT and have pulled out several silver quarters and several mercury dimes at about 3 to 4 inches. If I raise my discrimination to '80' to get only silver, will I lose depth on the AT Pro?

On my low-end detector, the deeper I go the less discrimination I get. I suspect we are beating our heads against VLF physics . . .

Many, if not all detectors may lose some depth with higher disc. settings. Possibly some more than others so it may be worth your time and effort to do a few tests on you particular machine to see how it acts. I know that several of my detectors are pretty good with moderate disc., but lose quite a bit of depth at full disc.
