1642, the date of reported occurrence, is interesting, but the tenor of the account and the distance from Hispaniola and the Silver Shoals tend to suggest St. Kitts...Of course, as is often the case, the tale itself may be embellished.

Hard to tell from the pictures and the overgrowth. the low slung trunnions and the long thin shape suggests an early date; the round cascable ball is a later feature. Maybe mid 17th to early 18th century. But you would really need better pictures.
