hi hoss,
yes pretty much all of La is Bayou country. this picture was taken in the east central part of the state. Just West of Vidalia, near Lake Cancordia.

My family still owns property along the Des Moines river in Mn. and every year when the snow melts it looks like that.
It's not deep, about 2 ft but it's fast moving and usually removes most of the new plant growth. The only thing left behind is trees and shrubs, but once the river recedes the land is great for alfalfa
