We spent about 4 hours gridding the last area of the Site, so its now all covered. As it happened the broken Roman silver was right on the edge of the site & we nearly stopped gridding before we covered it!
I got the best hammered of the day (I actually got all 3) whilst OTWBTTC & Cru'dad got the stunning Roman Key! We have now discovered a new area that needs gridding as we found the odd coin & artefact.

5 Hours total;

17 Roman Bronze Coins
A mystery carved stone - Any ideas?:dontknow:
Roman Fibula
Bit of an 18th C Fob Seal
Roman Key (new variant we need):headbang:
Roman Silver Denarius of Hadrian (Cru'dads find)
Charles I Halfgroat
2 Hammered Pennies of Ed I, best one being my FIRST Penny of the Lincoln Mint.8-)

Hi, wow, awesome finds. Congrats:occasion14:

Another awesome day. You always seem to get the good stuff out of the ground. Congrats on all the nice saves.

Great finds for a 'low yield' site! Three silver and a beautiful key make it a fantastic day. No help with the stone....
The right one of the good Bronzes? Who's that?

Another nice hunt, congrats. I see the stone as a scraping tool. Tanning leather? Kind of small though.

Wonderful coin recoveries! :occasion14:

The hammered coins came from 3 different fields. The site is spit in half by 2 fields & we tried another one close to a Church before we wandered back to the car & fluked out the Roman Key in the middle of no-where!
It's a barbarous imitation of a 2 Soldier 1 Standard reverse.
