Here are some photos I took after midnight during a full moon in Maine. I still need to work on the quality, as I am a total hack with photography and I learn as I go. I hope you enjoy them and if you do I will post some more on here in the future. I love this site and I hope to find some of my own treasures here in Maine that I can post for everyone to see, but alas; for now photos will have to do....

I also have lots more pictures to share from many of my travels so you can check them out at my blog too which is http://whereareyoublog.spaces.live.com/

Re: Maine After Midnight

:) Thanks!

I will save you some trial and error from what I know so far........

If you do any night shots, use a tripod and a cable release to take the shot so you do not shake the camera since it is an longer exposure.

As with anything you CAN over expose and it washes out completely.... go figure in the dark?!? LOL

Even in the dark there is enough light to get the shot to look like it is daytime if you are close to the subject, like the boats and trees shots.

Use the slowest film you can get (usually 100 speed) and do an longer exposure. I really could have used a 50 speed here so they would not be so darn grainy like most of them are.

Good luck and have fun! I look forward to see your great night shots soon!

Re: Maine After Midnight

I used a 35 mm Canon EOS Elan 7. I am old school when it comes to creative shots. Digital burns through a set of batteries every couple shots if you do extended exposure and the noise (from the heat/electronics) is far worse than this.

Ah, another film guy. There are few of us left anymore. Welcome to the forum. Your photos have a relaxing mood to them. Great shots.

Re: Maine After Midnight

Great shots, the 1st couple of pics looks kinda spooky with the fog rolling in.

:D Thanks! It is a lot of fun playing with the challenge of taking night photos.

Here is another one that looks very watercolorish....
