I bought a used AT Pro that will be here Tuesday, it’s my first AT Pro. I think it’s a 2011 model, is there any maintenance that I need to do to it when I get it before I use it.
Just make sure coil cable o-ring has a touch of grease on it. Like a marine lube or lithium grease. You don't want a dry o-ring on the connector. Make sure cable is secure and tight when reinstalling. Clean coil with wet rag or damp towel to get any dirt that may contain iron rust from past hunts so you can cut down on falsing and improper ground balance. It would have to be alot for that to happen but doesn't hurt to wipe machine down. Do a factory reset by holding power button down till it double beeps. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you want it to come on first and then hold down to do a factory reset. Also I think it double beeps. You get the idea. Make sure screws that hold the unit to rod are in and no cracking around them. Should be good to go after that. If someone has more please add.

Also make sure you put grease also around battery plug/seal O ring as well. This will keep it water tight whenever you submerge it. I put a little grease on the plug ring every time B4 water use.

Awesome, thanks for the help guys. I already ordered a phoenix control box support for it because I feel like I may be a little rough on my stuff hauling it around in my sxs.

Your welcome. The AT detectors are tough. I’m rough when I’m out detecting in the fields and rivers. I have no problem using the Garrett machines that way. I pay for mine so that says a lot. I’ve seen guys on YouTube videos treat them like crazy but some of those knuckleheads aren’t paying for them either.

Amen! I guess I’m not alone in Thinking the same. But that being said I wish I too would get some machines that I did not have to pay for and be “sponsored” by manufacturers.

I’ve only got one detector I used I got sponsored with to use and I even babied that one;) it’s a lot easier to break a machine with a display screen than just a normal beep and go. At least for me anyways. About 20 years ago I broke the screen on a classic ID and had to send it in for replacement. All because I fell off a hillside with it while it was still strapped to my arm

Take a pencil with an eraser on one end. Take the batteries out, then clean all the contacts with the eraser to remove any built up oxides, which an cause voltage resistance or failure. Also clean the battery ends if the batteries are old or are rechargeable. Take off the coil cover (if you have one) and clean out all the loose particles. Wipe the coil with a damp cloth and wash the coil cover, then put it back together.

Well I got my control box stabilizer in today but still no AT Pro. The good ole USPS showed it would be here on the 9th but now it’s been 8 days without a tracking update and it was only coming from one state away so I am pretty sure it’s lost in the mail. IMG_2627.JPG

Get a screen protector so grit doesn't work its way into the buttons and ruin the waterproof membrane. I wish someone had warned me lol.

Oh no. I'm sure they will get it straightened out and get it to you. I would be so mad though. Sorry

There hasn't been an update on USPS for 10 days now so I filed for a refund through Ebay this morning. I also bought a Tesoro Tiger Shark this weekend. I really need for the weather to get right, it was 0 this morning with a -13 wind chill but its going to be almost 60 Saturday. That should get some stuff in the ground moving around.

Sry to hear that I guess someone got them a detector for free. Good luck with the Tesoro. I've never owned or used one.

Yeah, for what I paid for it I am happy. I got to take it out today in muddy snowy mess. I am impressed with the recovery speed on this thing. I was just running it on pro zero and just listening for good clear targets. There is a ton of iron in the ground where I was at today so all I really dug was some bullets. I didn't notice until I got it out in the sunlight but it looks like someone drew a line across the screen with a marker. Is there anything I shouldn't use when trying to clean it off.
