Map Over lay's

Hay All i am new to this map overlay im kinda confussed about how to over lay a map,and how to go about finding older maps of wilmington nc,,,and then how to overlay! any help on this subject,,,,i have been detecting for 8yrs and never overlayed a map

Here's a link for old maps: http://www.historicmapworks.com/Browse/North_America/
Just click on your state and take it from there. Not sure how old the ones for North Carolina are, but the ones for Ohio go back to the mid-late 1800's and are organized by county. Great for locating cellar holes.

I don't do "overlays" so much as just look at the older maps, and
then colorize the old parks from the old maps onto a more modern map.
Then I end up with a modern map with colors to show old schools and parks.
