Got back to the place that gave the 1730 KG II copper. Started with a few wheat cents and a few other trinkets.

A few more coins here and there before deciding to head back over to the KG copper area. Found a couple of buttons right off, which was promising. Then a deeeep signal came up, but it was promising because it hit from all angles. Dug down and finally popped it out of the hole. It was surprising to see a thin copper. Was totally expecting another KG and put it away and kept going. A little while later a nice vintage sterling earring comes out. It's the screw back type, which doesn't look comfortable at all to wear.

After 6 hours it was time to call it a day. Got home and some dirt had fallen off the coin... but instead of a KG face, there's a large eagle? What's going on here? It is a token? There's no way it's a Mass cent...But it was! Was hoping to get a date but unfortunately that's the most worn part. I'm thinking 1787 but am only 50% sure (it's a 50/50 guess anyway 'cause it was only made for two years, haha). Planchet is super nice for this area... like the KG. Going to get spoiled with decent coppers!

Whoops, forgot I also got a 1937 buffalo nickel and some wheat cents.

HH all!

Really nice state copper.
It may sound silly, but I hope to get one someday.

It could happen. I've found some 1820s-1840s (or so) Canadian coppers here in the U.S., so I'm sure a few of these state coppers made it up to you guys.

Wow ! Testing that Mass copper is awesome ! You have a very good site going ! That one is definitely in way better than average condition ! I like the horned eagle variety ID . Not a common find even in Mass. In 7 years now I have found only two ! Congratulations ! Is this your first ? MR

Thanks MR! Last night I was looking at your old thread for your Mass cent. What a beauty your coin is! This is actually my 2nd Mass cent. The first came a few years ago and unfortunately it's pretty toasted.

The REALLY nice MA copper has the eagle with the arrows in the right claw. They are like $10,000+ in good condition.

Nice state copper in awesome shape, very nice:icon_thumleft: I posted my first state copper a few years ago and some guy who never replied to any of my other posts sends me a pm and says "I'll tell you the variety if you tell me where you found it, I'm doing a survey." What a tool bag. I told him I couldn't it was a friends spot so he says " Well in all my years I've never been denied before, can you at least tell me the state, county and whether it was a home or church or field"? unbelievable.

Thanks CMD! Most of the time here in NH, the coppers are green encrustations. Wish they all could have this detail and state of preservation. Wonder if any Mass coppers have made it down your way?

Imho ,,, Not Many .. I am sure of it . Oh , by the way , again after gawking at your Mass copper for another drooling minute ,it's a understatement to say that Your coin is a GEM , that copper IS the condition I could only dream to dig .
MY quest for a Mass copper or tree coins has been an absolute dismal failure .
The good news , I have a bro in Lexington Ma. so all Hope of getting one , is not LOsT ! Hope a tree coin is in your Future as well .
Never give up , that's how we roll .

Good hunting " dawg" ;)

Doesn't matter if it was a wheatie, who asks where you found something? What a bush league move, how rude.
, I remember a guy doing a study of Nj coppers , he was just looking for general info on where they where located!
