Mavericks last search of the year, here's what I got.

Well, went to the bank to get my last 2 boxes of halves for the year, while I was there waiting a lady came up to the counter with a bag of rolled up change and was saying how they had been filling up their sons piggy bank and it was full now, so she wanted to cash it in. When I got my boxes I asked about the change the lady brought in, the teller said I could buy it no problem. So this is what I got from my last 2 boxes of the year and the change from the lady.

Quaters= skunked
dimes= skunked
pennys or cents ( per preference)= 96 coppers, 2 wheats ( 1919, I think my oldest one to date, and 1937), 2 Canadians, and 4 dimes that were in the rolls.
nickels= 1 Canadian and 1 54

2 boxes of halves= 5 40's, 1 87, and 1 81 S proof.

So thats it for the year I guess, not an epic end to the year but, not a skunk!
Hope everyone has a safe New Year! Good luck to everyone getting that last search in tonight too! HH, Maverick.

Why keep the proofs? They arnt silver are they?

Many people hunt for many different things, I keep anything that is not of the norm. There is more to CRHing than just keeping the Silver. Proofs are cool to find, especially if you don't find any Silver in the box as well as the foriegn coins that you might never get to see other wise, unless you are a world traveler. They are not really worth anything above face, but may be someday, they are still rare to find, obviously because you only find them every so often in your search, so I consider them to be rare compared to a normal half. I have made a complete or almost complete set of them from 71 to 2012 allready. HH, Maverick.

Thanks Buff, I thought I'd take a chance on the other stuff because she had just turned it in. I do keep all the 81 and back cents and wheats I can find, I have 2 full penny boxes with just 81 on back cents sitting here that I sorted through when I started this hobby, it's only $50.00 tied up so no big deal to hang on to them I figure, right? I have some war nicks and silver Dimes allready too, I was just hoping for at least 1more Silver Dime to add to the stack, but no luck, oh well, maybe next year, lol. HH, Maverick.

Hey Mav, yeah, I have some pre 1981 cents sitting in the corner of the garage myself, same as you, about $50-100, I don't plan on saving any more, but I will not return them back to the wild.

I kinda can't stop either, I didn't even think about the containers I have them in too, I still pick everyone out of my change so I guess I actually have a little more now that I think about it, I doubt I'll ever stop doing that, so who knows where it will end, oh the madness! lol. HH, Maverick.

That one dirty dime was MDed. They look interesting when cleaned up with all the pitting.
