Would be helpful if you had another coin (or a pencil or something) in the pix for size comparison.
Also I notice you're from New Mexico: What type site did you find it in ? Eg.: routine city park ? Relicky or ruins type site ? How old does the site you were at date to ? And by that, I mean : "Specifically" at the location. Not like as in: "This city dates back to such & such founding date". (yet might have utterly no bearing on the school yard or park or home's yard within that city)
I have heard of many mexican era coppers, and coins like LC's found in NM. There was a treasure magazine article, many years ago, where some dude there was making sport of driving all the back roads scouting out stone and adobe ruins (foundations or walls, etc...). And had amassed many of them. But still though: Not like being back east (where LC's brim out of every sandbox).
