After these last couple of Banners found I am almost embarrassed to post my little find from after work today. But what the heck I still had fun getting out after all this rain. Short 45 minute hunt after work and before it got Dark. This is the first "D" mintmark war nickel for me. I have found bunches of "S" mints and a few "P"'s .

Happy hunting all!!

Your finds are yours, because you dug them. A war nickel is a great find, and I wouldn't get in the habit of comparing other peoples finds to your own. There are many excellent hunters on the forum with many years of experience. And yes, some with beginners luck. Some people just live in areas that are going to produce better finds. Enjoy the hobby and I wish you many more successful outings !

Too bad all are hunts don't produce banner finds. Congrats on pulling those 3 keepers. :occasion14: There is nothing to be ashamed of, I like finding OD nickels.

If every hunt produced a banner find it would become mundane after awhile. I love those war nickles, they represent our military to me, makes them special to be saved! Good save Ken.

I never go hunting with "banner finds" in mind. I'm out there for the sheer joy of the hunt. I'm sure a lot of us feel the same way. And a war nickel is always great find in my book. Congrats and thanks for sharing!
