I found a one half of a copper mould for casting lead-ball bullets. There is a peg-hole in each corner of the joint face to locate the other half. Internally, the mould is hemispherical with a sprue entering from one side. There are remnants of an iron fitting on the outside, which would have been the means by which the two halves of the mould were held together when the molten lead was poured.
Thanks for looking!

The typical musket calibres ranged from 0.5 inches (13 mm) to 0.8 inches (20 mm). This one was 13mm in diameter.

Thats what i thought when looking at the pics. One of the smaller calibers. So chances are big that the mould is hunting related. Again, cool find!

Really cool find, would be nice to find the other half. It's one thing to find the lead balls, something completely different when you find the mould to make them. HH

That's just an amazing find.... We take for granted the work involved in making these bullets until someone finds the Reepers tools :) thanks for sharing.. I've learned something new today!!
