That's a nice piece. Is it an architectural piece, almost looks like a baluster or pedestal of some type? The building, were you the winning bidder at the auction mentioned on the sign? Is it yours as in, you own it and will be using it for your business or are you just setting up shop there? We need the rest of the story and my name isn't Paul Harvey, lol.

I believe the mermaid probably came off the top or bottom of a flight of stairs in a old mansion. It is carved from a solid piece of wood, and is extremely heavy. Judging by the patina I would say early 1900s if not earlier.

I am renting the building. I thought about buying, but I figured would dip my toes in the water before just jumping in and buying a building. $1000.00 a month with no utilities, 4800 square ft + a huge open space which is about 4800 sqft if no more is something I couldn't pass up.
