This is a piece of copper I believe with what seems to be a cloth band aid or cloth tape. Found this mixed with nails a couple of inches down. About an inch and a quarter long. Several other items in the vicinity. received_261765287833923.jpeg

The copper with the fabric reminds me of a home made muffler patch. The long item at the bottom is probably a bark spud.

Thanks for posting and good luck!

The long item on the bottom looks like a paint can opener. But I can't figure out the tiny hole on the blade.

What is a bark spud?

To peel bark off a pole or log to allow drying/preserving it's integrity.

The bandaid material might be old cloth electrical tape.
The copper was either being insulated from electricity ,or vibration maybe. Should show wear if vibration was an issue.
A chime quieted ...Hard telling.

I've never seen one that wasn't hand forged. Near my home was a big leather tannery. They bought oak bark from all over the place to use as a tanning chemical. The bark contains tannin hence the name tannery or tanned leather.

Went back today and got real excited when I found the cap. Sooner or later I will find the money they dropped! 20181130_172503.jpg

I was thinking a dog tie out driven into the ground and the wide end was to keep it from pulling up so easy.

Three o'clock on the photo is a perfect image of a Model T OE radiator cap (If Brass). 9 O'clock could easily be an MT door handle.

You are correct on both accounts! I think the whole car is buried here! :)

Maybe the cloth wrapped metal is a prison shive? Not for stabbing but for slashing.
