Hi pjdentry,

Of course, I forgot to put a size which is 90mm tall by 30mm wide by 10mm thick max.

I should have posted this in the what is forum area which i now see would have been better so many apologies.

Great to be on this forum as my first time.

More likely a parrot than an eagle. Early 20th C.

This one isn't exactly like yours, but you get the idea.

Apparently popular in the teens and 20's.

Metallic parrots are exceedingly rare finds, and are highly sought after by collectors of metal detector found metal animals.

Congrats!

Nice find , Cast whole except for a hollow end .Handle off a fire place tool. The bird is a Rosella like the images made by John Gould. Became popular in many household items in the 1850,s after the release of the bird books first published in 1848

Yes of course. The hollow end was bothering me. That makes a whole lot more sense than my first guess. I think we can mark this as SOLVED now. Brass Fire Place Tool topper.

Totally cool recovery. I am with those thinking it may be a fire place poker end piece with the hole in the base of it. Show us some more of your goodies and welcome to T-net.

Thank you DC Matt, you are right it is more like a parrot. Yeah it looks like a door knocker, thank you for your time.
