My Family has had this rock for as long as i can remember (30+ years) My mother says it was given to my dad (who passed away 8 years ago) by someone who found it in the desert (not sure which).
It's very heavy, smooth to the touch, feels metallic but does not attract a magnet (although testing with a fridge magnet might not have delivered the best results).

I'm curious to know what it is

Additional info:
38cm length
10cm diamater
3.5kg weight

attached some pictures to help ID (watch for proportion comparison)

Thanks in advance and apologies if this is "obviously not" a meteroite but i honestly have no clue.

Cheers,

Stephen

I noticed this was your very first post Chaitier - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Hi and thanks for the feedback. Updated my profile, I'm from Malta and the source is probably a desert in Libya.
I did compare to a lot of pictures and so far petrified wood seems to be the closest match :)
