Hello,

I was out metal detecting today and stumbled upon these... Thankfully I have good eyes because my Bounty Hunter metal detector passed right over them and didn't make a noise. I picked one up and it stuck right to my magnet. I put it on the ground and ran the detector over it again and it made the lowest noise I've ever heard it make.

They are very heavy for their size. Below are the pics.

These were found in Southern Arizona.

Thanks!

Looks like magnetite with a little bit of quartz in it to me. I'd say most likely not a meteorite but at least your picking up rocks that look like them so thats a start.

I see points from both mrsoroblanco and paseclipse. If that is quartz on the end, it is very unlikely it is a meteorite. Free quartz not found on meteorites that I am aware of. The stones do appear to have iron-like areas on them. Magnetic. Worth getting a second opinion on.
