why would this coin actually wiegh 41.68 Grams rather than the 37.5 ststed on the coin? is it because its 10% copper or what??

Yes, the 37.5 grams refers to "oro pura" or pure gold in the coin. The rest is copper or some other metal to harden it.

If it is a 1947 it is most likely a restrike. There were some real 1947s I believe, but that was the year they chose for they restrike coins. It still has the same amount of gold as the circulation year coins.
