I had a break in my day and had a couple hours to kill so I decided to hit my pounded park but with this Tornado coil, there are still some keepers out there.
My Washington curse is finally over.
1944. This coin has eluded me since I started this hobby.
I rescued another war nickel, 1943P
A deep 1955 wheat.
And my find of the day.
WW2 USMC Eagle-anchor-globe lapel pin. And it was deep. 10” at least. Rang up 68. It cleaned up very nice.
I wish I knew the owner of this pin. He fought hard to earn this.

really nice Marine Corp device. Not sure if a collar device is the same size as the one used on a garrison cap or not. Maybe someone who served with them will chime in with a solid ID

I have seen many variations of this pin. I am not sure.

Nice finds Mark. Glad you got the monkey off your back and found that Quarter. My nemesis coin was the Barber Quarter. Took me many years to find one. I had even found Seated Quarters before I finally found a Barber. May your coil swing over many more !

Shouldn't there be a rope around the anchor? Or is that Navy? Gary

the longitudinal lines on the globe and the rope (fouled anchor) are variations which help to date the piece depending if it has those features or not. Google has a world of info on it if someone wants to spend a little while and do some looking.
