The button rang up at about 50 on AT Pro. Penny is for scale. Anybody know if it's military? Seems to be some gold wash barely hanging on the reverse. The button is flat. Also a little pinwheel token.

Looks to be a pewter Navy button, so probably late 1700's...........Congrat's!

Capone, I'm no button expert & don't have any button books......so, I will leave it to the "expert's" as to if it is American, English, etc. 8-)

Thanks, Dale. I haven't found the exact button anywhere, but I'm seeing similar ones from early 1800's British navy.

You're probably right, could easily be English & early 1800's.......either way, it's a nice find!

I hope you don't mind but I rotated one of your pictures and slightly enhanced it. I can't find it in any of my button references.

Question for the history buffs.

If this button is from the late 1700's, is it possible it is revolutionary war? Did britian have navy soldiers fighting in America? I found this in Minnesota.
