Military tag i d help needed

I was told this is a Union Saddle Tag, if anybody could confirm this I would appreciate it. I was offered $20.00 and not knowing for sure if I wanted to sell it, I declined. Does any one know the value of these type of tags?

Yup You Are correct,MacClellan Saddle goes on the pommel?(front) of saddle Facing you. maybe 5 to 10 dollars.

Someone told me once when I was a kid that if a man was riding a McClellan and his horse fell out from under him so he broke an arm in the fall and couldn't carry the McClellan away with him, he'd regret losing the horse and breaking the arm, but he'd still figure he got the best of the bargain. No way of knowing what the guy who lost that one you found had to pay to get rid of it, but if anyone tries to take it away from you you'd be well advised to break his arm and kill his horse.

Then you can start talking money.
