A local Historian friend who has been a great resource for the Tenn. Trio suggested that we might want to hunt a site where a pre CW log home was located, disassembled, & moved sometime after 1950. We had a rain out prior to our Arkansas trip so Doug & I returned today. There was a large iron and cast iron field. No old buttons or coins today but Doug made an interesting find as shown in his pic. We think it’s an old brass mine i.d. tag. It has “Jack Boyd” and “No. 12” engraved on it. Doug is researching it. I dug the brass reign guide (that sounded like a belt plate on the F75), old hoe, brass toe tap, and back from a circa 1850s lock. In addition to the i.d. tag, Doug found a very old pocket knife, a square brass front door lock that we forgot to include in the group pic, harmonica reeds, and a piece of bar lead. This is less than half of what we dug. I’m not big on old house hunts but this was fun. HH, Doug & Q.

Great hunt! Love the tag. You never know what will turn up at a site like that.

I know Jack Boyd. I graduated HS with his son Stan....LOL Seriously, that style tag is often a key fob for a turn of the century hotel keys, but that's doubtful in this case.
