I must have missed something....can you explain a little more on why you have to remove your headphones on each target recovery??

I have been using the E-TRAC for years now. I use it in heavy salty soils and old grazing farm grounds. Now that you have had it a while I would suggest to put it in "all metal" or no discrimination mode, then change the tone to ferrous. The ferrous tone for me is much better on the ears. I'd rather have all the iron with low tones and the good ones to stand out as the high pitch. Works very well when in high trash areas so not to get constant high pitch sounds on junk.
