Went back to a area that I had detected about three years ago :P had some nice Roman finds from this area, and the new field was just on the outher side of a narrow lane opposite
The field has had fodder beat for the sheep to feed of, this is the best detecting conditions you can get and no one had been on before us
Michael had got there two hours before me, as I walked on the field he gave the signal that he had his first hammered a huge Lizzy sixpence, in great condition my hopes rocketed thinking this was going to be a day to remember(it was but not for me )
I won't bore you with the details, but the XP Goldmaxx was put right in it's place today to say I struggled would be an understatement, one Hammered turned into two, then three, then four along with a Silver love token and a worn Silver coin, probably a William, and then the Crowning Glory for my buddie....a stunning George1V Sovereign 1826
I did manage a few finds, a broken seal ring and a nice George111 Irish...and then at the last gasp a Hammered not the prettiest but after the hiding I had just had....more than welcome
