What you see is a combination of wear from circulation and more than likely Post Mint Damage, even on the Mint Mark.

Yep, as the coin is hit the metal can be slightly moved around.

What's the year on the coin, Morgan I presume. You have to take into consideration the age of the coin, the "s" mint mark could be a badly worn Reverse.

It is 1879.
It is pretty worn, but I've seen worse.
