Don't forget it probably isn't 999 so you have to reduce it by that percentage, AND the refiners cut. Ex. $26k at .925 and 98% melt is $23-24k.

Depends totally on what's in the hoard.

American Silver coins still going for more than silver melt if in good condition (i.e., without dinks, gouges, etc).

If lots of Morgan and Peace $$, then value goes up fast.

71 pounds of 90% silver is 31.27 kilograms of 90% silver. That should be more than $27K, provided the hoard meets the above requirements. Even selling on Feebay, you'd make more by selling it in $10 to $50 face value lots, and paying the shipping yourself.

Just ran it through a calculator.
71 pounds is equal to 32.20506 kilograms (@Ask.com). Somehow I thought 11 ounces (T) is one pound, my apologies.
Still, @approx. $1 per gram @98% refiners rate @90% silver percentage is $28404 melt.

I agree with the previous post. Probably get more from EBAY.

Your right if it is 40%ers instead of 90's. Then its just a matter of recalculating. Depends on what he claims is modern. Is it 71 pounds of silver or is it 71 pounds of coins at ##%.
