After the violent Pacific storms of the past weeks, I was out with my Nox-600 detector, where a friend had uncovered a Morgan Silver Dollar the previous night, and out pops a silver Franklin Half-Dollar. So I know the heavier targets are up. After digging a few older fishing weights, (always a good sign) I come across a clay escarpment, and between a couple of nice sized boulders, I get an iffy low-tone. I dig down and have to crack through a hardened layer of clay and gravel, but the signal is still there....another big shovel of gravel and this beauty spills out into the light, probably buried for 40-50 years. My compliments to my local Jeweler for cleaning, and appraising this 1960-70’s Modernest, Brutalist style, seven stone (rubies, champagne hued diamonds, and a peridot) 14k Gold ring, base value, approx. $600.
