I like the ring Jeff. Are you going to do some searching and try to find the owner. I am still trying to find the owner of the 1968 16k ring I found and posted earlier this year. I think I have a good lead though.

THANKS RANDY

More Info I just received :

SCHOOL SEAL AND MOTTO

The basic seal for Nativity BVM High School consists of a chief, the upper
half, in which green mountains rise against a blue sky. Superimposed on the
mountains is a large gold "M" for Mary, and across the "M" , a scroll
bearing the School Motto "SEQUERE MARIAM" ("Follow Mary"). The lower half is
divided into two parts. The right base displays the Star of David on blue
field. Blue, the color of the sky in which the stars of the constellation
appear on the obverse of the Great Seal of the United States, is also Our
Lady's color. The left base, a black lion, rampant on a gold saw, is taken
from the coat of arm of John Cardinal O'Hara, Archbishop of Philadelphia,
during whose Episcopate this high school was founded.

I hope you have better luck finding your ring owner than I have. I know the name and even have a picture of the guy, but no one has seen or heard from him in years. He is in his early 50's now and may not even be living anymore but I haven't been able to find out. Sorry to hear your season is over. Ours is just getting cool enough to hunt! Way too hot and humid in the summer time. Monty

As ya'll know, I'm still pretty new to this treasure hunting/metal detecting stuff. In fact, I'm so darn new I didn't even know there was a treasure hunting season! I think I may be in trouble. I didn't get a license. :( Also, I don't know the bag limit or keeper size on treasure hunters! HELP!! ::) LOL

Nice finds, Jeff. Good luck in finding the ring's owner.

HH, ya'll!

Very nice ring Jeff, I only wish the one I found was readable. Jostens was unable to help with the info I got off the ring so I hope you are able to return it. HH and hopefully winter will hold off just a while longer.

OK....what's the deal? ????

Your post makes four that I have read today with the sad news of "no more hunting for the year"!

I've never lived in the north...but I'm with Monty....it's just now getting cooler here! Sometimes it's very cold in the winter for a week at a time...but then it comes back with at least 60's for a day or two. Do you guys not get ANY days in the winter that would be suitable for going outside!! I'd go wild if I couldn't go out every once in a while! ?:D

Well ....I guess your stuck with seeing my horse shoes and bullets then! LOL! ? ;D

Your finds have been very nice from this site! Beautiful ring!!!! ?:o

Congrats!

Nana ?;)

Nana once the snow is on the ground then the ground freezes and you have to be a snow bunny to enjoy it. Not having snow on the ground this late in the year is very unusual for us in Vermont anyway. You will have to provide us with stories of your finds to tie us over till spring. :D

End of season, bah.

I'm hoping to start a new tradition this year - day after Thanksgiving. Instead of getting the Christmas tree go metal detecting! ;D

We will see if mother nature cooperates.

Nana ;)

That's fine with me Nana. From what I hear...winter is the time to do research and line up new places. Maybe clean up some finds. We get by. Makes the time we do have all the more special.

Hey, there are days in the Iowa Winter when it's nice enough to detect, like in the 30's or so. Digging is the problem, the frost depth here is 42 inches LOL! :) I suppose I could go to the park and get surface clad with the right tool but I don't think the replaced "plugs" would still live...

Jeff, sometimes all good things have to come to an end. But theres always next year. Hopefully my frost line won't be anywhere near 42 inches like sugarsand. As long as its not to deep, a portable drill, pick ax, spud bar and a few sticks of dynamite just might work. Any way nice ring, good luck finding the owner. I'm sure if you do he will be very appreciated. Till next time, have fun and be safe.
