More beginner's luck

Took a nice walk down the old trail yesterday, but the cyclone fence had gone up almost miraculously. Did get to do some rock hounding at a spot on the trail they had cleared for construction traffic. Found a possible fossil bone fragment and a space rock. Both small.

Took my apprentice out today and he did it again, more beginner's luck! Two days ago he became very interested in md'ing when he found the two-heart 10k ring, today he found the one with the stone. In a spot I had walked over. My downward spiral into the MD'ing Hall of Shame continues....

May be time to learn from your 'student'! Actually it is pretty common for someone to find goodies in the footprints of another, even if both are using detectors. I've been at both positions, once finding a gold ring while following a 'well seasoned' hunter, and another when a friend found a nice silver onyx ring I had walked over, detected, and lost the signal on.

You have forgotten the "Prime Directive" of the elders, Old Age and Treachery Will Overcome Youth and Enthusiasm. Next time he gets a good hit accidently trip him and while helping him back up and apologising profusly, turn him around a couple of times then give him a gentle push off to help him get started again. You could even throw in a pat on the back to throw him right off. THEN take his spot! LOL Fred

Right on Fred! Uhh, I'll stay away from your claims...

He was using my 1235X, which is my gold magnet in the parks and playgrounds hereabouts. I think I'll have hime use my Bounty Hunter tomorrow!
