Ive been working an old road near my home, this road has produced some great 18th and 19th century finds, plus about 2 tons of cast iron. There are so many good signals, most of which is the center of a very large chunk of iron, but one day it will be money in the bank. So im slowly eliminating the junk and getting the good stuff.
So today i figured id id work further along the road, add to my scrap pile and hopefully find something good.
Nearing the end of my hunt i got a really nice signal and out popped the nice large copper buckle. Two feet away an iffy signal, high tone surrounded by iron, BAM out popped the large lock.
This is my first lock of this type. Can anyone give me am estimate on the age. I have dug everything from late 1700s coins to Civil War 3 ringers along this road.
Im currently running the lock thru electrolysis and will be paraphine waxing it.
