The rock that stuck out looks like a large core of Horse Creek chert. Does it have yellow and green and red in it? The pictures are a little dark.....

These are some more I found while arrowhead hunting yesterday. I'm a beginner, and am sure most of this is probably nothing but nonetheless, it is neat. They haven't been washed at all. Found in old creek bed, edge of field. Item C is very heavy, but not metallic. Not lead. Item M is a piece of old pottery or glass or could even be shell ? Item B is the prettiest color red.<img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774539"/> I've never seen a rock this color around here. It stuck out like a sore thumb simply bc of the color. Item A and D are uncharacteritically shaped compared to other rocks around where found. Not sure, may just be rocks. Items E and F are flat on both sides and look almost like marble. Dont know about item L K is just flint. Are these what ya'll are referring to when you talk about shavings or flecks ? Couple of fossils.<img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774531"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774539"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774553"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774558"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774560"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774561"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774563"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774564"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774565"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=774567"/>

Another thing we do not refer to them as shavings and flecks.....we refer to them as chip, flakes and debitage.......hope this helps...

You should post the red rock in the rock forum and the fossils in the fossil forum. Both of those forums have some really good people in them that can tell you what you have. I might be wrong but I dont think I see any artifacts.

It has some small parts of a yellowish color in it but it's 90% red.

Its Horse creek chert probably.
a.sandstone
d limestone both natural
H cool fossil called a :dontknow: got a few also though.
M or W does look like shell
The metal glob could be slag
F. Natural rock not sure the type
K. By the coin lots of flakes or chips from the making of ancient tools.

I like the way you laid them out that is what I do on occasion for an I.D You are bringing it all home that is smart in the beginning before long your pockets will get lighter but better safe than sorry. May I ask what area of Tn? North south east or west. I am in the S.E corner by ala and Ga in the Tn Valley.

Sounds like that one is a form of geode. Looks like an interesting one too. Take a chisel and try to crack one in half. There is a good. Chance it is hollow. You could be in for a pleasant surprise. And don't worry about it. It's what people do with geodes.
