Got out this morning. Found some costume jewelry, $1.98 in clad, and a Civil War Bullet!

Are their any experts in CW Bullets, or can any point me in the right direction to ID this? It appears to match several type of CW Bullet pics I've seen.

That is a CW bullet, congrats! Amazes me that they are called mini balls as they are very large for bullets. I have a few but being in Germany, I do not find them , LOL. HH, Mike

Definitely a CW bullet.
A three ringer, Looks like a .58 cal. from the ruler
One of the most commonly found.
Dropped not fired. There should be more where that came from.
Try hunting in all metal mode in that area and keep an eye out for square nails, they'll show ya where they were camped.
This will also let you find any Iron relics left behind (guns, tent stakes, tools, ect.)
Great finds, good luck finding more!!

Nice bullet it definitely looks like a civil war era minie ball to me.I think they call them minie balls because one of the co inventors of the projectile was a captain in the french army,in the 1840`s, named Claude-Etienne Minie`.Keep looking around that area there is bound to be more.HH.jeff

Thanks for the information (everyone), and Greg thanks for the advice. I'll have to get back there when I have the chance! This find made my day!
