If you have a newer unit, you will not need his mod. I can get a nickle that deep no problem.

I get nickes at aleast 12". I've dug a couple of nails at around 20-24 inches. They were big nails about 4-5 inches long and about 1/8 in diameter. How deep do these things go? I know of a guy that claims a cannon ball (about the size of a baseball) was at 3 feet in the mud, in fresh water. He was using a fisher. I use a Garrett Sea Hunter.
