You've prolly already looked at this site but here is the website to the park. http://www.craterofdiamondsstatepark.com/

Murfreesboro website. http://www.murfreesboroark.com/

I live a couple hours north of the park. Mosquitoes are bad, so bring plenty of Off or Cutter. The diamond field is just a huge plowed dirt field, so if it has happened to have recently rained, have some rubber boots or old shoes you don't care about handy. Recent rain = GOOD! They have places to hose off after you have been digging. There are many methods to hunting for the diamonds....screening, panning, eyeballing surface finds. A recent rain makes the latter very possible. Arkansas is beautiful this time of year, so plan on taking in as much as you can. I recommend visiting Hot Springs also if you schedule allows. Don't get huge hopes up of striking it rich, but all the same, many first time visitors find "really good" diamonds. Best of luck to you on your visit, I hope you can tell us of an awesome find. And welcome to Tnet and the Arkansas forum.
