Thought I had another pocket watch, but opened it up and found it was an old musical locket.

Sadly the music had long since stopped but the thing looks pretty nice all the same. The cover on one side is missing as are the internal components. Looks like a mfr date stamp on both the interior wall and the cover as they are identical, 80675 perhaps June 8 1875 as that is one format for such date stamps. Check out the ghostly image on the cover!

The sidewalk cut is one example of scrape too deep. Only found a couple wheaties (scrape drops) laying on top of the cut. Sure wish they had left an inch or two of off the cut and just removed the shallow trash layers.

Awesome find Tim. Are you saying that music locket came from the scrape that was too deep for coins? Or did that come from elsewhere?

Yep, that scrape was too deep for anything other than what dropped on it's surface as it was being cleared. The locket came from elsewheres today, the edge of a flower bed and it was about 6" deep with bezels, backplanes, faces and frames from several pocket watches as well.

nice find tim, you still hitting the sidewalks?

Sure am Mark, though the sidewalks are done, the parkways are still wide open. But the pickins are very slim as the landscapers have only roto tilled them and that just made them fluff up enormously so the deepies are now real deep under a fluff of shallower dirt and trash! Gotta let them settle and hope they popped a few goodies here and there.

Yeah but I might be tempted to trade for that rescue of unwanted funds from the casino, Bob!
