Mustangs are NOT 4x4's

stang2.jpg

Ok, my version of the story is this....I was following a outcrop of PURE gold along Kane Springs Rd, when all of a sudden the gold turned to sand. It was at that point I tried to get back on my horse ( the stang ) and ride out as fast as I could.

Nahhhhhhh.... I was just soooooo anxious to get out on the desert that I took my new car and thought that Kane Springs Rd. wasn't that bad.... WRONG !!!! After I got stuck I had to call the Rangers and I said excatly this:

Rangers: Hello Anza Borrego state park.
Me: Ahhh yeah do you help stupid people ???
Rangers: < snicker... giggle.. giggle >
Me: Wait a minute... you can only laugh after I done..
Rangers: What did you do ??
Me: Well I just realized that my new car is not a 4x4 and I'm stuck on Kane Sprgs Rd.
Rangers < snicker.. Ok will be there in about 10 min.

After they tried to get me out... They called a pro with a truck and he got me out....

Since then I have bought a REAL 4x4 and can now look back and laugh at this....

Acuras aren't 4X4s either! I did this a couple of years ago, and was lucky that San Diego Sheriff's Dept. had Expeditions that got me loose. ;D ;D ;D

Re: Mustangs are NOT 4x4's

Yeah. It was in August and about 110 degrees. .I had hiked out to the 78, then about 1.5 miles to a call box and called AAA. I had been waiting about two hours for a AAA 4x4 to come from Julian. The cops saw me sitting by the side of the road under a tree. They pulled over and asked me if I was illegal. HAHAHA (I do have a good tan). I told them what was happening, and they asked if I wanted to wait for AAA, or let them get me free. DUMB QUESTION!

Re: Mustangs are NOT 4x4's

Hey mike,
I can relate, when I called the rangers they tried but couldn't.. So they called this guy with a Toyota PU and wanted to charge $200. I was W of Split MT on Kane Springs Rd. I could see the 78 from where I was. So I told him all I could afford was $60 so he agreed. After he pulled me out I had to go to the Trailer park with the store S of the 78 near the buttes and use their ATM. It was crazy but I can laugh at it now.... :D :D :D

As you'll probably find out the 4 wheeler will get farther in before getting stuck. carry a compressor and let air out of the tires. Looks like you could have driven the stang out by deflating the tires.

I've used my snow chains to get me out of sand far more times than I've used them in snow.
