Went to an afternoon auction. There wasn't a lot of stuff that I was interested in. They had a case of silverware with a few misc plated pieces. It wasn't until about 30 minutes before the auction started that I realized there was a bottom section to the case. Some lady picked up the top section and started picking through the silverware underneath. So I looked and there was a complete set of sterling all wrapped up in the original felt holders. There was also more junk plated items. Anyway got the set for only $30. Its Castle Rose by Royal Crest sterling. 65 pieces and about 2000 total grams. So its my best sterling score ever. Just had to share it with someone.

Awesome score!!! We need to check out some of the local auctions, don't know we'll find anything like that though.

Yea there was a guy there who bought a sterling set the week before at a previous auction. He was scoping around and never opened the case. I didn't know how much was actually there until I got home. Was thinking maybe a 1lb but was a lot better. The auctioneers actually opened it up and even had the wrapped sterling in there hands, but never unwrapped it to look because everything else was plated.
