I was coin/jewelry dredging in a fresh water lake beach that had been closed to swimming a number of years, before, and was in the water only 30 minutes when I saw this shining at me in my sluice box. It was four feet down in the sand. It was measured as a 1.10 ct. European cut diamond. It was in a 14kt Masonic ring and I had it melted down and a new ring molded and diamond set. That made my detecting trip worthwhile as it was 200 mi. from my home.
