To say that this year has gotten off to a slow start for me would be an understatement! I've found almost nothing worth writing about until today's hunt! I headed back to the Town of Columbus, Ontario to a site I had hunted extensively last year. I made some interesting finds in the 'front yard' of the Columbus Town Hall last fall, so I decided to head around the back to see what I might find. Just to the north of the Town Hall sits the Columbus United Church, these two buildings sit next to each other and share a 'common backyard'. Behind these buildings now sits parkland, tennis courts, a baseball diamond and a tot lot. I felt confident that I'd make some decent finds there today!

Built in 1859 the former East-Whitby Town Hall. The Town Hall was used as a hall for the community of Columbus and the office and Chambers for the East-Whitby Township until 1973.

Columbus United Church built in 1873 is a historical landmark in the village of Columbus. A beautiful design in an idyllic, the body of the church is dressed with red brick with cream accents. It is strengthened and ornamented with the buttresses and a spire rising to a height of 125 feet.

I started by finding the usual junk and pennies, when out popped the spoon. I figure it probably dates to the late 19th or early 20th century, this was a good sign! A little while later I dug the 'Chevrolet grill emblem'. At first I didn't know what it was, so I photographed it . . . all I could think was, "Wow there must be an old car buried here"! :laughing7:

Thanks very much for looking,
Dave

That e-key is identical to the VW/Audi version and costs $45 to replace. That might be your "key" find for the day. :laughing9:

Nice finds, Dave!

A little info about your chevy bow tie embossed emblem. First introduced in the last 1920s, (1929 it appears), several models including the Chevrolet Coach AC International (2 door) and the Chevrolet Landau Sedan (2 door). I attached a couple images just to show it on the cars themselves. Very cool stuff! It appears by the time the first Chevy 4 door Sedans enter the market in 1932, the new bow tie design is seen.

HH!

I was thinking along similar lines Charlie! ;D I looked at this 'key' more closely when I got home to see if there was a manufacturers name somewhere, but no luck!
Best of luck to you!

Way to keep at it and make some nice digs...

Thanks very much Bill! I'm still getting use to the signals the AT Pro is giving me, though it is similar to my old ACE 350 . . . it's just going to take some getting used to that's all! :laughing7:
