Went to the bank today planning on ordering a box of halves. The vault manager told me they had a box in the vault. He acted like its been there for a while. Can't wait to dig into it. Can anyone tell me what company box this is?

Thanks! I haven't opened it yet but any BWRs that I've gotten in my area are S&S. It's killing me that I can't open it yet. I'll post result with pics later.

the rolls with say harrisburg PA - and the box should have a date stamped in black ink - at least the ones I have seen.

Managed to sneak a roll out. They are S&S. Did not see a date stamp however on the box. Anyone have any info on these types of boxes? Are they usually good or poor boxes for CRHing? Or...it doesn't even matter :)

Garda in my area... also, in my area, the rolls are black and white, I call them "skunk rolls" not only because of their color, but because they don't produce either.
Good luck,

Garda in my area too. Some boxes have yellow-and-white wrappers and some have black-and-white wrappers. I've gotten all of my silver halves from boxes containing the yellow-and-white wrappers. Every box that contained black-and-white wrappers have been skunks.

S&S or Strings & Son is the company who sells the wrappers/boxes to the couriers (Dunbar, Garda, Loomis).
In my area those boxes are delivered by Dunbar. I have also seen them delivered by Garda, never Loomis.

I've seen these boxes with 10 silvers in them and also had streaks of 10 boxes with no silver. It just matters who is dumping silver into the the system in YOUR area. If no silver is getting into the system, there will be no silver in the box. On the other hand, if grandma just cashed in grandpa's stash you could get lucky.

Just cracked open the box to check for enders. No silver enders but I did see a marked coin. Probably doesn't mean anything but it still gives me a sour feeling in my stomach.

UPDATE: I couldn't resist so I started opening some rolls. This is what I found on the second roll. 1964! Also notice the sharpie marked rims.

Love it! Nothing like seeing the sharp white edge of a 90% silver coin. Also, dont let the lack of enders or marked coins get you down, I once opened a box that contained 20 silvers, not a single ender.

Finished my first box of halves. Ended up with two silvers. 1x 1964 and 1x 1968 D. I'm glad with these totals. At least I didn't get skunked. Also found 3x NIFCs.

On another note, each roll contained rim marked coins. Whoever marked these coins did a hell of a lot volume.

Here are some pics:

Youd be surprised just how many people mark with varying numbers of stripes on the rim. Very common to see those.

Those are the same type of boxes I get and as someone mentioned, they are delivered by Dunbar. I've seen a lot of the same type marks on the rims in my boxes as well.

Good results, and you gotta love seeing that pretty rim. Time to go back and get some more!

I put peice of tape on the obverse of 2 coins from each roll (halves) with the date. I think i'll start marking edges.

Watch out using pieces of tape to mark coins. That can lead to jams with the coin counting machines, and that doesn't help any of us.
