Had a couple hours to hunt after my wife came home from work, and I decided to hit an old city park that has been absolutely pounded. It has about six inches of fill dirt on it, too, so it makes hunting it that much more challenging.

I have been hunting with an older guy that swings his coil like a sloth, and he has fantastic results! I thought I would give it a try, and it has been very good to me. I've managed several "firsts" in the last couple weeks, and I think the results have spoken for themselves.

I dug this bugger at nearly 10 inches, with 3 rusted nails in close proximity. I have been trying to be more patient in digging VERY iffy signals, and this one was no exception. There was just a squeak of non-iron as I swung over it, and I was confident it was not the result of iron falsing. I was still very surprised when I pulled the buff out after retrieving three nails! I did ding it...:BangHead: Hard to see, but it's a '27. Sorry for the long post, and thanks for looking!

Congrats on your first buff!

Thanks! Nothing that'll set the world on fire, I know, but alas.... If only I could dig the beautiful trimes and other U.S. silver that you "Canadians" seem to find on mountain tops.:laughing7:

I always need to remind myself to Slow Down, and listen, made myself do that in a high school field, and some "iffy" signals w/ iron, that had "a little" bit of high pitch turned out to be a few dimes and penny's I swear were 8 to 9" from the coil in soft turf.

Congrats, all these years, 1600s 1700s 1800s and 1900s and I've still never found a buffalo :(
